It continues to bug me that there's a new TV show about sinister aliens that's calling itself Invasion, like this show didn't even exist. 2005 Invasion fans represent!

"Mitsuki - remember our date hike in the woods! Mitsuki - remember how gently I held your hand!"

And that was even less of an ending than the last episode was. I mean, I assume the flash in Caspar's eyes meant something (he's controlled by the aliens!), and I'm not entirely sure what happened to Mitsuki there (yeah yeah ok her brain was converted to thinking like the aliens. Does that mean she can only communicate via clicks and doesn't like human food any more?), but it all feels sort of flat. Ok, the aliens are kidnapping people and returning them as drooling husks of what they used to be. And they're terraforming the planet in a way that we're never really shown, but it's happening! Like I'm not sure what I'd like to see in the next season. Where does the show go from here? It's definitely not wrapped up, but .. now what?

If you're after the same sort of vibe, I think I preferred the Anglo/French War of the Worlds adaptation? Same sort of low level "huh the aliens are here, how do we survive?" line, but the aliens were a bit more interesting.

I don't really understand how they know about the alien mother ship and haven't blown it up. Did I miss something important? There's abductees on it? It'd fall on grannie's house?

I think they know about one local big ship but not necessarily all the local big alien ships, and they're thinking that if they shut down the hive mind it'll shut all of them down?

I dunno. Maybe? Something like that, anyway.

Hearing the title always takes my mind to the classic Quinn Martin production of The Invaders (here's a 1967 clip with guest star Suzanne Pleshette). The opening credits still give me the chills.

BTW, I enjoyed the first two seasons of this latest Invasion, and look forward to the third!
