I'm finding the non-monster plot of this relatively engaging, and quite enjoyed the isolation of the mountains. Having said that, I will be disappointed if the show is not headed towards some significant mayhem at the end.

This episode capped off a long-running B-plot about the difficulties in maintaining digital records. First off you have the early approach to digitization that, while robust enough to survive being thrown into the sea, suffered from the problems of having to maintain not just the media but the machines needed to use them. When you have to track down antiques in the backstreets of Tokyo just to read anything, you know your archival processes have gone wrong. Then you have the decision to discard the old media immediately after transferring the records to a new device (the laptop), leaving no backup for when that laptop fails -- after having it's energy sucked out by a giant ice mole (a common IT issue I'm sure). Monarch is in need of a good archivist.

I put on Pacific Rim last night since in my mind it is the apex of giant robot fighting giant kaiju and it's so good that I posted it to fanfare. So if you are also wishing for more ROCKET ELBOW action and less talking, you might also enjoy a rewatch!

I’m into the human drama enough that I’ve sort of forgotten about the monsters. Really into this show!
