About halfway through this I thought "oh, so ... a Sapphic Carrie if the religious upbringing were more believable and less cartoonish?"

Just to be clear, a) no; this is less a potboiler than a psychological drama and b) I liked Carrie. Still, I liked this more. I especially liked it that her parents had recognizable motivations which felt realistic and which I could understand even as I disagreed with them.

It gets a lot stranger than Carrie in where it ends up going, too.

I watched this a while ago, and, while the plot absolutely did not stick with me, the look and feel of the cinematography did.

Thanks for posting this, we watched it last night and really enjoyed it. Really pretty movie, loved the pacing and the way they revealed the history.
