The opening few minutes, in which the filmmaker decides to not only emulate Lynch’s style but make a flamboyant cameo, is terribly cringeworthy. (No one can properly imitate David Lynch.) But the video essays are revelatory. It goes way beyond tagging superficial connections between David Lynch and The Wizard of Oz and gets to the deep underlying assumptions. Good stuff, highly recommended.
