Abiko-sensei, the creator of the Tokyo Blade manga, voices her unhappiness with what she's seen of the adaptation. She insists on rewriting the script, threatening to withdraw consent for the adaptation if she doesn't get her way and is unafraid to suffer any financial consequences that would result. With only 20 days left to go until the scheduled premiere, the cast and crew are nervous about if they'll be able to pull things off.

This episode goes back to the "how the sausage is made in the Japanese entertainment industry" template that was used often in the first season.

We start off with an expansion of the final scene from last episode, where Abiko-sensei expresses her disappointment with the adaptation's script. We then have an extended flashback, where we see the cast and crew being introducing themselves at their first meeting. Then we jump to a dinner between Abiko-sensei and Yoriko-sensei, where we learn that Abiko was formerly one of Yoriko's apprentices before leaving to work on her own idea. Having also seen the live-action adaptation for Sweet Today, she asks Yoriko's advice on what to do when an adaptation isn't going in the direction you want it to. We learn from Yoriko's inner monologue that while a lot of mangaka are lacking in the traditional social graces, Abiko is an exceptionally strong example of this.

The dinner foreshadows the confrontation that Abiko has with the crew behind the adaptation. She is strong-willed and very protective of her work, and is unhappy at the changes made to the characters in the service of streamlining the work for a stage adaptation. In particular, she has some choice words for the scriptwriter, starting in on a barrage of insults before being dragged away by Yoriko and some other members of the crew. We see some of the reasons behind the way that the script ended up as it did, with Abiko and the scriptwriter always working through a number of intermediaries and never having direct contact with each other. A professional telephone game, which is where this episode gets its title.

The scriptwriter is shown in a very sympathetic light. He is a fan of the original work, and wanted to create the best adaptation that he could, putting in significant overtime and working through sickness in order to make last minute changes and meet deadlines. However, many of the changes made were actually not representative of the things that Abiko-sensei actually wanted, due to the fact that they were being interpreted by 4 to 5 other people before actually reaching him.

The episode ends with rehearsals being cancelled until they get a new script from Abiko-sensei. Aqua mentions that he's never been a fan of stage plays and makes some disparaging remarks about how they're not immersive and look cheap compared to movies. Akane takes offense at Aqua disparaging her field, and insists that they go on a date so she can show him what a modern stage play looks like.

Not much momentum on Aqua's overall arc in this episode, but there are a few cute character interactions between the main cast. As per tradition, Ruby is completely absent.
