Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey.
Different director and writer, sounds potentially disappointing.

I just want to know if it's going to be enough to make Nic Cage and Pedro Pascal cry together.

When I discovered this film wasn't by the same team that did 1 and 2, it was actually pretty heartbreaking. Those are amazing and wonderful films. The trailer for 3 didn't even quite feel right. I'll see this, sure, but definitely with much lower expectations.

We watched this last weekend and yeah not great (I didn't understand why they delayed the release in North America either). The Paddington Bear books always had an element of social observation as a part of its humour and in the first 2 films they manage to capture that really well but here? Not terrible - still better than a lot of other family films I've seen but the magic of the first 2 is definitely not here. Very generic. For me the absence of Sally Hawkins as the mother is what I found most off putting. She must have read the script and noped out. Olivia Colman is good but everybody else is by the numbers. Which is a shame for this series.
