Show Me a Hero: Parts 1 & 2
August 18, 2015 5:56 AM - Season 1, Episode 1 - Subscribe
Nick Wasicsko becomes the youngest big-city mayor in America, but at what cost? Even before he is inaugurated, the obligation to build public housing in the white neighborhoods of Yonkers looms over his new administration.
This show is going a long way towards dissipating the bad taste left by True Detective 2.

I've been thinking about what to say about this all day, but the only comments I can make are how much better it was than True Detective.
I mean, it's just as complex, it's about an on the face of it potentially boring topic, there are a bajillion characters to follow. And, it was really compelling. Oscar Isaac was great.

I'm not really hooked on the story, but might keep watching just because of of a decades-long crush on Winona Ryder.

I was really sucked in by the premise — this guy who elected and now has to tackle a Civil Rights issue that he probably hasn't thought very deeply about.
They did a great job with the late-80s production design.
I'll be interested to see how all the characters tie together.
Only complaint: The second episode had one or two too many "crowds yelling at a meeting" scenes.

I was surprised that there wasn't more discussion in my workplace - all the guys I work with are from Yonkers and while all except two are too young to remember this, I'd think that it would be of interest. I guess it is still hard to talk about.
