The Boss (2016)
April 10, 2016 11:28 AM - Subscribe

A titan of industry is sent to prison after she's caught for insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America's latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.

Starring Melissa McCarthy, and directed by Ben Falcone, her husband. They previously teamed up for Tammy, and just like that film, The Boss is getting clobbered by critics, but also like Tammy, seems to be on its way to $100 million at the domestic box office.

We saw this last night and even though it wasn't as good as Spy, it was enjoyable!

I liked the chemistry between Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Bell. KB always looked like she was just about to crack up.

I really liked this movie. I was not grossed out, which is one of the criticisms I've seen, and I am pretty easily grossed out. I wasn't offended by a lot of the things I've seen in the reviews. One thing that I saw pointed out was the cliché of the emotional character development as related to Darnell's conception of family. Well, I felt similarly--if not more strongly--about the emotional development in Creed but no one was yelling about that.

A lot of reviews seem to say that they dislike this movie so much because it could have been a lot better in other's hands (ahem, not Ben Falcone's direction). I guess I would like to see that movie but I'm not sure how much more I would like it.
