Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Man Behind the Shield
February 22, 2017 3:29 PM - Season 4, Episode 14 - Subscribe

Coulson and the team engage in a deadly cat-and-mouse game as they work to rescue Director Mace, who is fighting for his life.

Low-carb week for Jason O'Mara!

Is there any point to continuing to post this show? I'd ask on FanFare Talk, but it seems like there's a much greater chance of people seeing the question in here.

Well, you never know. We seem to have stopped discussing it, and thus posting it, but oftentimes there's activity when a show gets posted, disproving the intuitive supposition that if there was interest, someone would have posted it already. Last year I regularly made posts for a number of shows, but this year I've not been. We're a small community, so whether stuff shows up or not can be idiosyncratic and not necessarily significant.

I'm still watching the show. But I do have to admit that I'm very unenthusiastic about it these days and I honestly don't have much to say about it. I'm not sure what the ratings have been. I'll probably watch last night's episode (the one that follows this one) tonight.

The next episode is one of the best ever.

100% agree. Someone should post the fanfare...

I honestly can't recall much of this episode, except that the actor who played Charles Vane in Black Sails makes a great Russian bad guy.

I'm actually looking forward to the rest of the season. It's running until April! Thank goodness for network TV and none of that AMC 6 month 'mid season break' crap.

And I agree, next episode is one of the best.

I read spoilers for this episode and I thought I read them here, but then I discovered several episodes hadn't been posted yet. So now I think I've been replaced by an LMD.

I have a weird ambivalence about this show. It's way more competently written than the Berlanti/CWDC stable of shows, and I frequently admire technical aspects of it, but I don't really feel excited about it.

I like how Daisy's developed since she was introduced and everyone thought she was bimbonic. I like how Grant Ward developed from Mr. Blandsome into a very menacing presence. I like the lived-in feeling a lot of the relationships have, and the actors all do a great job. The pacing is good, the action sequences are generally well-staged, and they can really surprise me with plot twists. But for all that, I don't lurrrve it and I can't figure out why.

Maybe it's because it's so dark (visually) with a muted color scheme and everyone dresses in variations of black-on-black, which reduces the potential for rapid visual differentiation. I'm a very color-oriented visual thinker, and the extremely narrow color and light spectrum they use on this show doesn't let my brain get as good a grip on it.

I still watch this show. It's not amazing, but it's not bad, and sometimes an episode will come along that really is quality TV. The next episode is one of those.

Thanks for posting these!

I like the show! I like the FanFare posts, though not enough to create them myself, and I enjoy reading the discussions even if it is minimal.

I'm still reading, This show is trash. But it's enjoyable trash, and a major step up on many superhero shows, particularly the DC/CW ones.

I'm still watching. It's better than the CW shows and I watch those for some reason.

I like the posts, it just usually takes me a few weeks to catch up on this show. I prioritize my watching-shows-online by "which expires first?"

Yeah, I gave up on the Arrowverse when I realized I was just watching to see what ridiculous outfit Thea would wear this week, because the storyline had sort of started treading water.
