Trial & Error: An Unwelcome Distraction

A new suspect ends up in a coma.
I'm enjoying this show but think I'd like it even more if there was just one episode per week (I have no willpower so can't wait). It's exactly the kind of clever dumb funny I've been missing from tv.

I guess it's a different strokes kind of thing because it's not working for me.
I want to like the show. I like shows with quirky characters, but it's too quirky for me. The lawyer and the daughter are the only characters I can even remotely relate too. Henderson could be OK if they dial back the kook factor by about 10%. The others are so thinly drawn I don't want to spend any time with them at all. In Parks and Rec or Arrested Development, yes, the characters are absurd, but they aren't one-note.

I sat through 15 minutes of episode 2 and couldn't do any more. It reminded me of a pale copy of Arrested Development. The delivery is excruciatingly scripted and telegraphed.

Exactly. I'll keep watching but I wish there were more here and that the characters at least hinted to rounder lives.
And I do think it's funny, but after it's over I can't remember why.

I gave two episodes a try but couldn't last more than ten minutes each. It comes off as really programmed and over-scripted. This will be the show that kills-off the faux-documentary style of sitcom.

That was my opinion a couple weeks ago. I don't feel that way anymore. Now I'm bored and not finding it funny. I'm disappointed because I love John Lithgow.

Ended up watching the whole first season. I liked it. There were more laugh-aloud moments for me than most recent shows.
