  • Yes, that's the issue with the NYPD.
  • Take my picture with it!
  • We should get the summer off like teachers. Let the city go to purge.
  • I hear they're into leather.
  • "No Sleep Til Brooklyn" montage. Yeah, Mervyns!
Stephanie Beatriz on Rosa.

I’m so relieved that Holt has revealed his deal with the Irish mob guy to the rest of the squad. That means we don’t have to have a plot revolving around that secret and the screwball cover-up of it. I’m just not here for that kind of plotting. And yay for Rosa striking a blow for bi-visibility.

I was totally grossed out by Boyle pressuring Rosa about who she was dating, given the whole history between them. I'm really looking forward to the next, apparently Rosa-centric, episode.

YES SAME

I know I say this way too frequently but I really truly urgently wish they would make Boyle like 25% less creepy.

even 10% would be ok

I confess the mere two or three weeks of hiatus had me utterly blanked out on that particular ominous subplot.
the next, apparently Rosa-centric, episode.
Oh, that's news to me. Oh dear, now I am experiencing Anticipation...

When I read the interviews, next week is her coming out to everyone else -- presumably because Charles spills the beans, though it would be nice if it were Rosa making the choice -- so I'm hoping that means we get an hour of Rosa. (She's my favourite character.)

Next week is also an HOUR so it's gonna be great.

Yeah, these felt like interactions between the Season 1 versions of the characters, particularly in the case of Boyle. I really prefer when they play up Boyle's fussy foodie qualities, as opposed to his oblivious workplace inappropriateness.

On the other hand, yay for Stephanie Beatriz! It feels like a very small change to Rosa's character, but I think it means a lot in terms of visibility for bisexual people, at least going by the reactions I've been seeing among bi folks that I know.

Also, did anyone else think it was weird that nobody acknowledged that Nakatomi Plaza is not actually called that, and is in fact the real-world headquarters of 20th Century Fox? Is it possible that in the universe of B99 Fox Plaza really was bought by a Japanese megacorporation, and the movie Die Hard is simply using that landmark as a setting, like the Sears Tower in Ferris Bueller?

oh god i hope not.

I hope not too, but . . . has Boyle ever kept a secret, ever? Maybe she'll tell people to get out before him. And she did say she was happy she told someone, so maybe they won't do a trash storyline with Boyle this one time.

I'm hoping for a fun Holt/Rosa conversation where they refuse to talk about feelings at all. There has not been enough of the two of them together.

Relevant Boyle section of the EW interview rewil linked:

Beatriz: Charles’s reaction in the 99th episode, he’s just excited to be the person that she’s telling. It has nothing to do necessarily with what she’s telling him, but more that she chose him to share that news with. Charles is such an intimacy addict — that to him is the biggest part of it.

EW: How does Charles handle her secret moving forward? He’s someone who could be overjoyed and overwhelmed with the responsibility.
Beatriz: Oh, Charles, Charles, Charles. Charles’ excitement about things gives him away so quickly that he’s probably the worst person to keep her secret, and maybe subconsciously that’s why Rosa told him.

This is probably easily Googleable, but where is Chelsea Peretti this season? I know she just had a baby, is that why she's out?

I freelanced for Fox International TV for years and I never called that building anything besides Nakatomi Plaza.

I love how fast they got there from the intersection of 6th and Beaudry. They must know secret routes, like the ones they must have used in Chuck to get from Burbank to Santa Monica in 10 minutes in the middle of the day.

Yeah, Peretti's out on maternity leave, should be back soon.

When the RV exploded, I lost it. More than I have for just about any other moment in the show. Maybe because I was expecting something subtler? Or some non-RV related crisis. But nope, it just goes full CGI fireball, BOOM.

Nope. If I saw it I'd call it Nakatomi Plaza too, mostly facetiously. It's possible Jake thinks it's really called that tough.

Chelsea Peretti did indeed have a baby. She and Jordan Peele welcomed a baby boy they named Beaumont into the world. Beaumont, of course, could become anything, who knows... but he does have a pretty awesome genetic/environmental leg up on becoming some kind of film/tv supergenius, as his folks are pretty rad.
