Colony: Sublimation

Will, Devon and Charlie journey home; Katie says goodbye to her daughter; Bram makes friends at camp; Maddie finds a new project.

* A Homeland Security Recruitment Center staffed by redhelmets is bombed, moments after Alec is admitted
* A shootout ensues between redhelmets and ski-masked guerrillas, panicked applicants bunched up at a locked gate are caught in the crossfire, the guerrillas gain the upper hand
* A masked gunman: "If you collaborate, you die." executes a wounded applicant

* Katie's at home prepping a meal, Lindsey is indoctrinating Gracie
* Katie gets a call from Jennifer extorting her into a meeting
* Lindsey tries to engineer getting Gracie to spend more time at the Burgess residence to reduce Katie's anti-Occupation influence, Katie is unimpressed
* At the meet (at an open air swap meet) Jennifer approaches Katie, who denies being able to give up Broussard
* Katie gives up the bee-sized surveillance drone at FBI headquarters and leaves
* Bicycling to a house (in not the green zone? aka "The Block") she is invited into a (progressive?) bible/religion discussion group, Katie seeks absolution
* Katie is proactive and introduces the bible, the Koran, the The Works of Confucius (I think they meant to say the 'Analects of Confucius'), and one of the volumes of the Buddhist Tripiášaka
* Gracie is receptive to anti-Lindsey indoctrination
* "After the greatest day, people won't die anymore." "Sure. Ok, did you know that there are stories just like that in every one of these books?"
* Gracie's first response to talking critically about 'The Greatest Day' is that Lindsey would be mad, Katie promises not to tell (blatant editorial; this was where I was expecting/hoping that the writers did something interesting later)
* At the next meal, Gracie is thoughtful, but demonstrates that she is still fully indoctrinated - Katie tries her best
* Katie floats a selfish situation where Gracie lives with the Burgess' and Lindsey (and she is able to do more resistance stuff), has a bunch of emotions
* Katie receives a phonecall in the middle of the night while spooning Gracie, Jennifer uses tired cliches, Katie: "I'm willing to give you what you want. I need you to meet me alone."
* Jennifer reports to Dan

* Jennifer is summoned by Dan Bennett and she finds him in the hall at FBI headquarters escaping "professionals" - former CIA division agents, Interpol, MI6
* Dan vents on Jennifer hard, stressed out about Broussard and the missing Rap artifact
* Jennifer drops the "mechanical bee" to Dan - "He's very reliable." - and a redhelmet finds one and shows it to Dan
* Dan presses Jennifer on her source, skeptical of the bee giveaway

* Charlie's bored out of his scull, Devon doesn't know how to deal with a kid, notices Charlie's ankle scars and his embarrassment over them, shows him hers and the stories behind them
* Charlie opens up
* Will shows up and states to Charlie that Solomon isn't an issue for Charlie or his friends anymore
* Devon is a little less blase, recognizes the chaos that Solomon dying will spark off not to mention heat on Will and Devon
* Devon wants to tag along with Will and get out, Charlie suggests employing the aid of an Coyotaje
* "Friends of Chuck" - Devon is a little too desperate when dealing with the Coyotaje frontman, who does exposition
* (Coyotaje believes there's a technical vulnerability in the Wall defense system, sells it for all its worth)
* Will, Devon, Charlie, and the Coyotage trek, Devon gives Will a reason to exposit
* Will gives Charlie a reason to exposit; "Why didn't you pick me up?"

* Bram gets jumped at the labour camp for his shoes (bald heavy build Black, stocky white with longish finer light brown hair, two more - one with dark skin, the other consistent with Caucasian but relatively hair-free - both plausibly wearing masks)
* On the warehouse floor working closely Angel chats up Bram: "I know who jumped you, took your boots." looks at someone who (probably?) wasn't part of his assailant gang (Caucasian, darker hair, hairy arms), "You can't let him get away with stealing your shit. This place will eat you alive."
* Barefoot Bram approaches Angel's painted target, "Hey...", Bram gets punched in the face and is down
* Target gives Bram an entertaining beatdown, Sgt. Jenkins looks on with a chub building up
* Angel uses this distraction to slip away
* Alan ends the fight (Early!) by tazing both Bram and the other dude, chews out Jenkins by pulling an Oskar Schindler
* Angel and Bram's eyes meet, Bram is less than impressed but still horny

* Madeline tries hard to seem to get with Nolan's program by showing him a new Rap/Occupation/Greatest Day worship location that she had picked out, Nolan's happy
* She visits Katie at the Bowman home, Katie seeks absolution
* Madeline gains situational awareness, Katie wants to firewall her but asks Madeline to take care of Gracie if something happens

* Jennifer returns to Dan promising Katie's reveal, tomorrow

* Bram is brought to Alan (enjoying nicely plated meal, with wine - for two); Alan dismisses the redhelmets, lays down the cards to Bram Bowman (son of Will Bowman), Alan is open that he's on Team Humans, Will's smarter than he looks
* Alan recruits Bram; Alan is a very smooth operator
* Bram's super hungry
* After being returned to general population, Angel gifts him with a pair of boots for his efforts

* Will, Charlie, Devon, and the Coyotaje scale a wall (amazing detail on Will instructing Charlie how to do it correctly - I'm crying tears of QA happiness)
* Even with knots, actors are shown having terrible upper body strength/cariovascular health
* A drone shows up, splats the Coyotaje, splats Devon, scans Will & Charlie, and leaves

Ok, wow, this is super hard to recap since this episode is like, two different ones each with three different endings.

* Katie meets with Jennifer on a park bench, Jennifer pushes Katie, Katie responds with "I can get into the Green Zone"
* Jennifer still wants Broussard, Katie maintains her inability, semi-fake breaks down in general in front of Jennifer
* Jennifer pushes back
* While Katie and Gracie pack up to (get Gracie) to the 'Green Zone' permanently, Will and Charlie burst in and reunite

I was really sad that Devon didn't survive. I liked her, but I suppose much like how it seems like they wanted to focus more on the family, they just killed her off.

MINOR SPOILERSSSS
I actually think Devon would've been a good addition to Broussard's crew, but I guess that would've prevented some of the disasters down the line

I was totally expecting a Devon redemption or something, or point out that being shady is a great method for survival now or something. Her having a moment with Charlie scar-sharing brought a tear to my eye.

Will and Charlie have got to be wondering why they were spared.

Katie floats a selfish situation where Gracie lives with the Burgess' and Lindsey (and she is able to do more resistance stuff), has a bunch of emotions

I didn't take it that way - I took it as Katie knowing that she was soon to be caught or taken (or surrender herself) as so she was getting Gracie ready to go live without her. It wasn't selfish for Katie - it was her trying to impart some last wisdom to her daughter before she got disappeared.

Now that the family is reunited, though, I'm guessing it's time for a different plan.

Holy fuck, I didn't expect Devon to die like that.

to be fair, even when i've seen it happen moments before, i don't expect any remotely recurring character to die like that.

Really pissed that Devon died, I was hoping to see more of her.
