This was... serviceable? I needed to sit somewhere with AC in this godawful heat and I didn't wanna just sit at home, and then Regal had a bonus rewards for this movie and I decided Dennis Quaid and Carrie Coon were enough to hook me.

I think this movie just didn't know what it wanted to be, but every scene has so much potential as a scene in a different and better movie. The main actor, Myles Truitt, has real talent though, and I hope he gets better projects down the line.

The twist at the end was fine, great even, given the reveal of who it was, but it almost feels like the whole mess of the movie hinged on that point, which would be a minor twist in a well written tv show. Speaking of, that's what this movie feels like. I kind of want to see a whole show set around this, because that would have potential.

Also, James Franco was scary as a murderous gangster, and sure he's good and all, but that whole aspect of the movie didn't lend itself any favors. I so didn't care about that part of the chase, nor about the older brother Jimmy. Like Zoe Kravitz should've just taken Eli and left Jimmy there to fend for himself.

And holy hell you can't put Carrie Coon in the cast and give her literally a minute of screen time. WTF.

The special effects were well done though! Even if the faces can look noticeably CGI.
