Ugggggh I struggled so hard with the first half of the episode, like I trust the writers and I know the cringe comedy always comes out somewhere good but Rebecca in prison was super hard for me! SO MUCH CRINGE

Yeah, the Rebecca privilege stuff was like an anvil to the head. Though I did enjoy Heather’s remarks about it and Valencia telling her off.

Nathan in the Woods was great.

Also, the Harvard/Princeton stuff made me giggle. But Paula should have used Penn instead.

I thought the jail thing was an unsubtle dig to OINTB. I can't be the only one.

kandinski I too thought it was a dig a OINTB and also the very direct Chicago-esque song.

my favorite part of this episode was probably the great/cringe-worthy reminder that canonically rebecca bunch is actually a terrible singer. rachel bloom is very convincing at singing like someone whose enthusiasm far surpasses their talent

I loved Nobody Else is Singing My Song (or whatever it's called). I'm also really happy that they didn't drag out the Rebecca in prison story arc. I was so dreading that this season.

I was hoping the prison arc would culminate with an Arrow crossover, but okay.

Yes! That's what this episode was missing - White Josh! Where was he? He would have been so good at calling Rebecca and Josh on their bullshit.

Oh. My. God! That's a mental image (and the accompanying laugh) I didn't know I needed but I absolutely do. Thank you so much for this. I mean it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. They're both on the same network, and it's not like the Arrowverse doesn't do musicals. Yes, I know Amell said he won't sing in one, but he's perfectly happy to do so in every convention clip I've seen. Maybe Oliver and Nathaniel could get into some bro-ish tortured macho off involving singing, dancing and salmon ladders.

Please tell me you've written the fanfic for this.

I did not realize how much I missed this show.

I love George never getting his song. I loved their take on Cell Block Tango, down to that moment where she almost tips over her chair. I loved her hatred of Cats, even though that was totally my first musical love.

The Josh storyline was hard for me, but I'm glad it culminated in a reminder that you don't need a disorder to benefit from therapy. I delayed getting help for so long because I thought I was just being a lazy hypochondriac looking for an easy answer to 'normal' growing pains. So while I completely agreed with Hector and Heather's dismissal of Josh's self-diagnoses, I also hated hearing them ignore his feelings.

Why won't anyone tell Josh he's just stoopid?!?!

Why won't anyone tell Josh he's just stoopid?!?!

I am fairly certain that they have (I remember White Josh in particular leading one of these charges), but Josh's genial good-heartedness extends to himself as well, so he dismisses and/or forgets anyone pointing out Yeah, maybe you can't do anything you want....

Ugh, Rebecca, just go to Hawaii already. Why does everything have to be so hard?

I wanted Rebecca to go to Hawaii too, but Nathaniel's response when she turned it down was super not-cool. Or at least showed that they're just in very different places.

This is the first episode title that isn't focused on a man in Rebecca's (or Paula's) life!
