Felicity stands by her recent decisions regarding her family. Meanwhile, Diggle and Lyla continue to look into the Dante painting that Curtis found.
Why in god's name is Oliver being "honored" for ANYTHING?

yeah i dunno why they're still involving Diaz with anything. I was hoping the Dante painting would lead to something that explains the future scenes, but nope. Also, the Max Fuller thing was so obvious, he was basically a season 1 baddie.
I think Laurel's politicking got the city to recognized that Oliver exposed the prison scandal and subsequent reform, and that's enough for an honor at a charity banquet I guess.
Despite all that, it was still a pretty solid episode moving the ball forward. I love that line from Felicity about imagining all this 7 years ago, which literally is how long we've all been watching. I also choked back some tears when she said she's not that girl he found chewing on the red pen because man I remember that scene vividly.
And I guess we're half right that it was a relative of Oliver being the new green arrow, just not his son time traveling. But now I'm confused about where all the future scenes are going.
I guess they had to, but using the same stinger that Supergirl did for the Elseworlds crossover was annoying, I wish they give people that watch all the shows like me a little bonus of having just enough of a difference between each. Tonight's Flash will probably have the same one too, ugh.

Yes, I was hoping they were done with Diaz. Lyla needs his cooperation but at what cost?
I do appreciate that the show is challenging itself to do things differently this season. The more fluid team, the lack of a bunker, Diggle and Lyla doing their own thing, Felicity being harder edged, Oliver working with the police, etc. I guess that's all due to the new showrunner?

oh i forgot to comment on that bit. I'm all on team Felicity in this season. She had to do what was right for her in that situation, sure she may have crossed a line but it's not like she had a choice. Diaz is fucking ruthless and you can't go against him with any qualms. The future implies that she never figured out how to dial it back, and that's a shame, but I hope they resolves that by the end of the season and she becomes more balanced.

Not to mention that I hope she just faked her death and is still alive somewhere.

Isn't that the Smallville Green Arrow in the stinger?

That seems to be the conclusion by various Internet sites (for example).
