This is my kind of science fiction but I've seen a couple episodes and it just does not grab me. Just nothing I can put my finger on, it's an interesting theme, well produced, but hmmm..

I loved the first season. I desperately want a synth to do the shopping, cook me meals, keep the house cleaned, act as a personal trainer. I also liked the characters and the challenges of hiding in plain sight as a sentient machine.

By the time it made it to the 3rd season, I was less into it. I understand that terrorism is a big topic and this is a good allegory for some of the racism we struggle with, but I like my SciFi to be escapist and hopeful and that 3rd season wasn't really any of that. Most of all, I don't want my natural desire to have a servant without any of the problematic social issues with that get recast in the role of a slave master for treating a machine like a machine.

This was going in some very interesting directions at the end there, and it's a real shame it got canceled. Synth religion based around Elster, followed by the re-emergence of V as an AI god? Niska delivering an Annunciation to Mattie? Next season, if we'd gotten it, was going to bonkers in a good way.
