Gugure! Kokkuri-san: A Refreshing Smile is the First Step Towards Becoming a Real Human!
November 4, 2014 4:35 PM - Season 1, Episode 2 - Subscribe
Kokkuri-san tries to break through Kohina's doll facade, which leads to her first attempts to smile. Later, we are introduced to the dog ghost Inugami, who also has a past involving Kohina.
To answer needled's question from the previous thread: I think she's meant to be a real girl (by the terms of the show, anyway). Drawing her as a doll is meant to show how she intends to be. She's drawn as a conventional anime girl at moments in this episode, at times when she's letting her guard down.
Maybe she always looks like a conventional girl to other characters, but considering all the other shenanigans going on in this show, maybe it just has to be accepted that she switches between doll-form and girl-form and this is one of those fourth-wall breaking moments that the characters accept as part of the world they live in.

I burst out laughing when her eyes fell out when she tried to smile.

Another show I'm following this season, I wasn't 100% sure from episodes 1-2 but now I'll stay with it until the end. It's actually very calming just watching Kohina interact with the spirits and her completely deadpan conversations. I like how even though she is younger than everyone the show still focuses on her life and her own thoughts on the situation at the end.
