Gary Clark Jr - This Land [Official Music Video]

It's a great song, but Clark had to censor himself during the SNL performance. The little pauses threw off the tempo a tiny bit, and it took some of the emotional power out of the performance when he was visibly restraining himself, imo.

The WU takes on Trump's "national emergency" announcement were wonderfully brutal. But, holy cow, that Family Feud sketch was unwatchably bad. Like "we threw this together three minutes ago in the green room" bad.

Eh, I like the Family Feud and other lightning round impression sketches. I just like to see the variety and what the cast members can do, I don't usually pay much attention to how it's written though. It certainly wasn't one of their best ones, I suppose.

What a good, solid episode. Cheadle was a great host and really worked well in the sketches.

Pound Puppy was nice and bizarre as was Lollipop Roadhouse.

Roach-X was one of the best fake commercials they've ever done.

As always, the Trump cold open was probably one of the weaker sketches. I really don't need to see Baldwin doing that ugly mug any more but I guess we're stuck with it for the foreseeable future since they're not going to suddenly let someone else do Trump.

Boy Colin Jost really wanted Amazon to come to NYC, didn't he?

I just leave this here. What a cool dude.

SNL: Don Cheadle Tweaks Trump With A Hockey Jersey (Bruce Haring, Deadline)

Excellent wardrobe choices.

I ended up liking Extreme Baking much more than I expected.

Extreme Baking offered up a mefi avatar, and I took it!

Then I found out that the cake talked just like my inside voice; the most profoundly disturbing moment of SNL ever 😢

Family Feud wasn't the best Family Feud ever, but some of the minor bits were some of the best ever. Beck's Sam Elliott has about 10% of the way to go and be perfect. Kenan's restatements of answers, "let's see...chewing the scenery!" "...Mary Poppins talkin' that nonsense!"

Regal Promenade Pavilion was pretty great, top 10 of the season. "The longest driveway in Queens!" "The youngest valets you can imagine!" Cheadle plays nervous overconfidence so well.

Sean the Cake was one of the weirdest Kenan voices ever. "I should not beeee..."

Because, by ending it, we created the oligarchy? And because Americans can only relate to sports.

Don Cheadle made that roach skit work

MIKA - Lollipop just showed up as a recommended video on Youtube.

'SNL' built an entire magical sketch around British showman Mika's 'Lollipop' (Lyndsey Parker, Yahoo Music)

Mika was surprised and delighted.

We have been lucky to have seen this season, even with its weak Trump sketches. Che's not punching down so much anymore. Pete's going through some sorta journey, and we saw him do a british accent. WHODA THUNK! And Leslie's not covering up her giggling nearly as much anymore. And the new kids are the standouts, too. This has been a great season. This episode is a great example of the balance they've struck between ensemble pieces, wierd commercials, the news and its sub-characters—and everyone's had their time in the light and nailed it. (Sorry Null & Rudnitsky. Sorry Brooks, so sorry.) And I'm psyched to see Melissa getting more time. The primetime-repeat episode had the sketch where she and Donald Glover are in bed, and it just cracked me up a second time.

And the sketches are more cohesive. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all slides into the election; maybe more Larry David and less Baldwin? Ya think? Fehhhh

They could pivot from Baldwin imitating Trump to Baldwin being very reluctant to imitate Trump, but somehow criticizing him anyway.
