well I figured that was coming, but I gotta say... I'm not clear on what Emiko's original intent was. Now that they've stumbled onto Archer she seems pleased, but was all the fake-Green-Arrow stuff really about finding her mom's killer, or was it just to gain Oliver's trust? Or both? She did seemed like she was expecting Dante to have answers about her mother. But then why gain Oliver's trust in the first place? Was it just to keep the Ninth Circle off the radar?

I guess this is also how she recruits Rene or something, since he's the big bad of the future, and I wouldn't rule out that he'll be part of the Ninth Circle.

I'm a little confused here... The Ninth Circle is the new League of Assassins and Emiko is the new smoking hot half-Asian / half-White Ra's al Ghul? I mean the show's not even rhyming anymore, it's straight up repeating itself.

Actually, the Rene-Emiko vibe this episode felt a bit strange--to me it seemed as if the writers were trying to put the pair together romantically.

I guess this is the week for ret-conning history, first with Lex pulling all the strings on Supergirl and now Emiko and Dante being responsible for blowing up the Queen's Gambit.

Laurel is pulling some fabulous, gloriously shoulder-padded jackets out of the wardrobe closet.

The dynamic between Dinah and Laurel felt pretty honest. It would be hard to trust Laurel after everything she has done in the past, but it is evident she's trying to reform (or at least live up to Quentin's faith in her).

Oliver really needs to listen to John.

Oliver always needs to listen to John. Oliver sure is a pushover for someone who was once a master strategist. Yao Fei and Slade Wilson would be disappointed!

Did Emiko and Dante blow up the Queen's Gambit, or were those Malcolm's plans and they decided not to interfere? Or, was Malcolm also a member of the Ninth Circle?

I am glad the show hasn't forgotten not-Laurel's past misdeeds and that she will presumably face some sort of consequences for her actions (which will probably turn out to be sacrificing herself for Team Arrow).

I'm curious to see how much of Rene's story gets told in the remaining episodes.

I kind of took it that Dante commissioned Malcolm to blow up the yacht, but you could be correct in that they got wind of the sabotage and decided not to interfere. I think I came to the conclusion I did because Dante gave her that speech about it being a present from the Ninth Circle family, implying that this done on her behalf to destroy the old family she had trouble cutting ties with in the past.

Oh. Joy. Oliver's back again. With a sister who acts just like him. Two Queens being a taciturn grumpy arching pain in the ass. Whee.

Alena is cute but deserves better plot than this.

it's to Katie Rohl's credit that I don't even recognize a hint of Marina
