Lucifer: Everything's Okay
May 8, 2019 5:42 PM - Season 4, Episode 1 - Subscribe

While investigating a beekeeper's murder with Lucifer, Chloe insists that she's completely fine with his devilish revelation, thank you very much. (Netflix US premiere)

AV Club recap - Lucifer and the DevilCop team are back (on Netflix) and “Everything’s Okay”

*Lucifer's musical number: Radiohead's Creep
*Lucifer feat of strength - stopping a car with his bare (bullet-holed) hand.
*Only on Netflix highlight - Tom Ellis's bare ass
*Grimm's Sasha Roiz guests as murderer-of-the-week, a Marshal for Witness Protection killing his own witnesses who he believes are unredeemable.

*Amenadiel returns from taking Charlotte to the Silver City, and decides that L.A. feels more like home to him than heaven.
*Maze is still bounty hunting, and is back on good terms with Lucifer and Dr. Linda. Chloe accepts her apology, and claims Trixie isn't ready to forgive her yet, but that is revealed to be a lie when they cross paths at the police station and Trixie gives her a hug.
*Dan is still in a bad way over Charlotte's death, but gets some closure after Amenadiel assures him that she's in heaven, with the force of angelic mojo.
*Dr. Linda continues to do her best to get through to Lucifer on the topics of denial and projection with regards to acceptance of his devil face, with the usual results. And she gets to punch Maze, therapeutically.
*Chloe spends the episode insisting that she's ok with Lucifer's reveal, but in the final scene breaks down crying in a church, where mysterious priest tells her that she must be ready for "the next step".

It's back!! Our garbage show is back, yay! Loved the purple suit Lucifer was wearing on the bridge-flinch scene.

While this is now a binge-streaming season, I think I'd rather stick to individual episode posts rather than switching over to a complete-season thread format. AV Club is going to be posting 2 recaps a night, so, I think I'd like to follow their schedule, which would get all 10 episodes up by Sunday.

Here's to it not taking itself too seriously, really good when it goes over the top.

Ahhh, I enjoy this show. I hope Netflix treats it well.

I doubt I'll be able to keep pace with you guys, but I'm still around reading your comments.

Somehow this first episode felt a bit off and a bit choppy or awkward to me--I don't know if it was the show team finding its feet under its new masters or being happy that they survived cancellation and not knowing what to do withe the reprieve or something else.

The purple suit was definitely worth a mention, oh yeah! I love some well tailored and smart looking menswear.

They're still doing bangs before what would have been a commercial break under the old regime. I don't know if it's deliberate. I'm going to keep track of the times next ep.

Sardonyx - I’m not expecting that everyone’s going to be watching the episodes on my posting schedule; ideally I’d love to get ahead of people so that the threads are up and waiting for them when they do finish each episode, or at least have enough detail in the ‘more inside’ that anyone who’s ahead of me can make an episode-specific comment without accidentally spoiling something.

I just wanted everybody posting here to know there comments are appreciated, even if they're not immediately followed up. Half the fun of watching shows like this is being able to gripe about them with this community and I didn't want a low post count on the threads to make feel like nobody was watching.

Yeah, there are clearly spaces for commercial breaks in the episodes and I don't understand why.

The commercial breaks are for countries where the show will be on a commercial network and not Netflix.

Also, bless their hearts but the Lucifer writers don't strike me as being secretly-budding-auteurs that were holding themselves back from creating the next Legion/The OA/etc only due to broadcast standards restrictions. They'll let go of their Cop/Not A Cop formula when you rip it from their cold dead hands.

There was more Action Lucifer this episode than in previous seasons. I think I like it so far.
