Alternatino with Arturo Castro: Season One
August 6, 2019 8:35 AM - Season 1 (Full Season) - Subscribe
In this sketch series, Arturo Castro attempts to navigate life as a Latin millennial in the U.S. Satirizing everything from modern dating to American culture to politics, Alternatino brings a fresh point of view to the Latinx experience.
Alternatino makes a great first impression, and it’s just getting warmed up. -- AV Club
this initially marks the rare Comedy Central sketch showcase that doesn't do justice to its central star, but perhaps if you tune in, it will be emboldened to take more — or, really, any — risks in a second season. -- The Hollywood Reporter
By all rights, “Alternatino” should not be TV’s only sketch comedy show fronted by a Latinx actor; it’s just too much pressure, and you can feel the show straining underneath it while also trying to make fun of it. Still, Castro and company are more than game to try, and the moments when they pull it off are worth the effort. -- Variety
Alternatino airs on Comedy Central. It was also a web series on ComedyCentral.com before this version.

I also watched the first episode randomly and thought it was GREAT. I'm not aware of his history, but this has a really fresh approach and now I have to remember to watch the rest. I hope it's on On Demand or other $CABLECO feature.
Between this and Black Women's Sketch Show (not to mention Key & Peele), it may be possible that SNL has made white sketch comedy played out. It just sucks all the air out of any other approaches (MadTV was always always just an also-ran). Interesting future we're heading into.

I've been enjoying the series, but the last episode was not the best, starting with a urination sketch and the long form one about buying a gift were both mediocre.
OTOH the cultural assimilation one was not bad.

This is some funny stuff. I really like this show and I'm eager for another season. If this is your kind of thing, you might also like Sherman's Showcase on IFC and A Black Lady Sketch Show on HBO

I randomly saw the brutalist-shit architect fauxcumentary skit on Twitter, and I loved it.
