The stained glass Matt did for the terrain with the backlighting was such a cool touch. I can only imagine how much time he invests in engineering these things, but wow.

This episode in particular was very map heavy. I would love to see them do a series, or at least an Everything is Content where we watch Matt build maps while he explains.

I was worried that Matt was going to punch one of the windows out during Caleb's grand entrance

The painting on the cathedral windows was such a nice touch!
I'd totally watch a 'Matt builds terrain' video.
But also - Ashley's back! And also Yasha (which I really thought might not happen). There were a lot of good moments during that fight - the stillness of mind, the Mollymauk callback, the cat's paw through the window, Cad stabilizing Beau and bringing back Yasha in the same turn.

Me too. The dwarvenforge stuff, as nice as it is, feels a bit generic used week after week and the custom stuff really added to the storytelling.
Loved the cinematic pacing of this one and Ashley’s return.

I'd say yes - most of the one shots have been getting their own season 2 (specials) designation, though it might make sense to list as a season one episode (I haven't watched it yet).

I hadn't realized it was already on YouTube; I figured it would follow the Critical Role schedule and be live Tuesday. I'm on it! :) Now I just have to make time to watch it!!

So, the rite to undo the fanes that hold back Tharizidun is usually fatal to participants, which explains why Obann was collecting people who are either immortal (like Gigglefist) or easy to resurrect like himself and Yasha.
Now that Obann’s defeated, someone else has got to take over the BBEG’s master plan. Let’s see, who else do we know with resurrective immortality... plus a moral grey stance.... plus a previous alliance with a mysterious magic user?
