A field surgeon who suffers from PTSD after combat in the Middle East, and creates a living human out of body parts in his Gowanus, Brooklyn lab.

Larry Fessenden's modern retelling of Frankenstein set in NYC.

Fessenden focuses on character and story rather than making a "science-y" spectacle. He actually skips over most of the physical creation of Adam, which is a very effective decision.

It's a slow, introspective film that really focuses on Adam's existential dread.

Sounds like the plot of the novel “Frankenstein In Baghdad“ but with a change in location. Will have to check it out.
