Sure he's taking going to take advantage of the kid, but he has the kids' interest better than the alternative... for now.
Oleg's coming across as being an idiot/ blinded by Ivar's physical disability to give him so much freedom - unless it's to give him enough rope to hang himself, but that doesn't jive with Oleg wanting to use Ivar as a backdoor into Kattegat. Oleg's waay too over the top and heavy handed though without it meaning much anymore.
Hvitserk's arc continues to annoy me. What with the producers and ... 90's opioid withdrawl?
Interesting choice to start adding colours to civilian clothing among the vikings, as was historical, instead of the universal greys previously.
*hmm, I'm acutely reminded of Chow Yun Fat's Mark character in 'A Better Tomorrow' where the scene leading to the climax has a quiet moment where Ho asks Mark whether he believes in god.
(my translation from Cantonese)
Ho: Do you believe that there is a God**?
Mark: God? I do - I'm God. God's just a man. A man who can control his own destiny is as God.
Ho: There are times where force of will isn't enough.
Mark: Either way, lose or win.
**this gets weird; they're standing by (in! actually) a shrine to Guan Yu (a common enough "saint" but pretty much the de facto saint of HK law enforcement in that era) BUT Ho, in context, is almost certainly asking whether he believes in Jesus Christ's dad. The one with the white beard and pale skin. Mostly. Christianity in HK is complicated.
