Okay, so first of all, I'll never forgive them killing Q off, nor dangling the Elliot/Q thing in front of us just to like, not do it (as much as I also like Alice/Q) and finally the insane decision to make Julia a human again (also "magic comes from pain" jfc). Last season's finale really pissed me off, can you tell?

But because I don't know when to stop I had to keep watching.

And I... like it so far? It felt genuinely great to see characters again and I still care about them a lot. The new plotlines are being set up well and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

I'm happy to have this show back on. I am definitely down for a season where the gang has to deal with the consequences of an excess of magic, as a nice counterbalance for last season's magic-scarcity. The stuff with the overcrowded "might as well be a state school" Brakebills was pretty great, and that kind of stuff has a lot of potential.

I'm less excited for a season where the gang is all fragmented and doing completely disconnected things and hardly interacting with each other at all, so hopefully all these different plot threads they set up will start to come together sooner rather than waiting until like, the very last episode of the season to do so. Also not excited about Josh and Fen being dead (Q was quite enough thanks!) so hope they get that sorted out reasonably quickly.

They're really leaning hard on the "magic comes from pain" thing for Julia but I'm still gonna claim that they haven't completely destroyed my theory from the end of last season.

mstokes650, i've never wanted a person to be right as much as I do right now with your theory. I need this.

The grief is hitting the kids hard, that's not unexpected. I love Penny as a teacher. I suspect the "signal" has something to do with the same crisis the sexist pig was telling Julia about. I really do not like what Alice is up to - resurrection never goes as planned.

I don't feel like I can recommend this show to my friends because of the hot mess that happened at the end of last season, but I still love the characters, too...

The Amazon subtitles are surprisingly prim. They're replacing all the swears with hyphens -- plus Margo's excellent "grow a clit," which, ???.

Oh, Alice. You should be more genre savvy by now! You've already been our Season 6 Willow!
I really hope that she's trying to build a Q-Golem just to spend one last day with (a version of) him. But, that's not really how this show works, is it. What's the absolute worst thing that could happen? That's what's going to happen.

So Margo and Eliot arrived just in time for Fillorian Purim?

mstokes650, I also want your theory to be right! I super agree with you on wanting the characters to get back together instead of being fragmented into pairs.

this was a good start. I appreciate all the grief everyone is going to over Quentin, and the set up for new plots.

I didn't have a problem with the death of Quentin last season, I think it fit his arc. This season opener is a good start.

"sexist pig"

Oh, right.

That goes double for me. So on the nose, I didn't see it right in front of my face!
