As I recall it, Xena season 1 is pretty ropey and mostly carried on the strength of her charisma.

I watched the first episode -- the hosting was minimal, just a few bumpers by Lawless & O'Connor, but it's nice to see them anyway.
Very fun trip down nostalgia lane so far though. I'd forgotten how wonderfully bad the crowd dialogue was. Like, they clearly didn't use the New Zealand extras' voices from on-location when they were doing big crowd/fight scenes, either because of the accents or to avoid having to bump people up from being paid as non-speaking extras versus day-players. So I assume they'd just ADR it back in the studio, and it always sounds so incredibly cheesy.

As an overseas Kiwi that was a major attraction initially - spot the Shortland Street people!

Yknow if we're doing episode by episode watches of X-files- again, there's no reason not to do the same with Xena.

If there's a Xena super-fan who wants to have a go at it, feel free. But I've got enough scheduled rewatches, weekly broadcast shows and new/upcoming streaming shows to keep up with as it is, I don't really want to turn my Xena binge into something structured or meaningful, I just want to watch it as the mood takes me and revel in the glory and ludicrousity and let the nostalgia wash over me. Ay-yi-yi-yi-yi!

Woooow. I haven't watched Xena since I was an actual child, but just seeing the Xena pic in the recently added shows section sent the entire theme (the chanting, the orchestral flourish, the drums, everything) running through my head. After a decade or two of exhausting Peak TV, it's time to finally admit that I'll never enjoy anything as much as the early seasons of Xena or Buffy.
...and I'm gonna put the Xena soundtrack on my workout playlist.
