Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: Quarantine

Poppy is trying to program a vaccine to Blood Ocean. David is trying to donate to charity. Brad is trying to stop him. Lou is trying to one-up Rachel and Dana's Zoom-tricks. CW is trying to figure out how to Zoom at all. And Ian is trying to keep everyone together from his compound.

I realized what Ian was doing just before he knocked on Poppy's door, and it fucking broke me. Openly crying, to the point that I have no idea what was said in the rest of that scene, and no thank you I am never going to watch it again. At least, not that part.

I hope every other showrunner watches this and says "Nah, we can't do any better, so we're not even going to try."

Aww, Ian isn't a complete a-hole.

Brad's twist was nice.

Only just getting around to this, and I really enjoyed it except the weird subtle indications that they weren’t actually playing Street Fighter in ways that you would never recognize unless you played the game. On the one hand, very inside baseball. On the other hand, the show is literally about making a video game, so you’d think they would at least not dub over the SF5 announcer with some other guy’s voice?

Anyway other than Little Nitpicks I really enjoyed this. Definitely one of the better Quarantine Specials I’ve seen this past year. I had a great big cathartic laugh when they noted that maybe it was not a great look to have just pushed an update to the game built around a spreading disease.

I've finally been catching Mythic Quest over the last few days, and like Etrigan, the Poppy/Ian seen just destroyed me. And just so you don't have to, you know, watch that again if you don't want to: almost nothing is said after she opens the door. A few vague lines along the lines of "I've missed you" and some "you really need to take a shower"/"you're an asshole" lines through the characters' own quiet sobs at the end, but really they just let it be a silent release for a long, really long time. Which was a brilliant, beautiful, perfect choice. This episode absolutely floored me. Only "Quarantine" special I've seen that truly feels representative of what this has all felt like.
