The Great British Sewing Bee: Final
June 24, 2020 11:56 PM - Season 6, Episode 10 - Subscribe
The competition reaches its dramatic denouement as the final three sewers tackle celebration wear challenges and the series winner is crowned.
That was a tough one! I think Clare was a favorite to win from Episode 1--she's got the technical skill in spades!--but I think Nicole and Matt have been more creative and adventurous through the series. After the Transformation Challenge I was sure it would be Clare or Nicole but then Matt came back with that stupendous ball gown and basically I had no idea.
I wonder if Nicole would've won if she'd picked an easier fabric--she really seems to gun for the more difficult ones.
I love this show.

Matt's dress was a tour de force - completely original in design, immaculately constructed and visually stunning. I was gutted that he messed up so spectacularly in the other two challenges.
I was surprised Nicole's red carpet dress looked so good; on paper it looked horrendous but it was perfect on her model.
Clare definitely had the superior technical skills but I preferred pretty much everything Matt and Nicole made over Clare's outfits, which lacked that spark of fun and creativity.

And Claire’s seemed like the exact opposite to me. The proportions and textures just seemed really off once it got on the model. Once it got back on the mannequin for deliberation, I liked it a lot more.
Shame about Matt’s first two challenges; I liked his gown by far the most. I figured he would have killed the second one, seems very drag-ish.

Yes, supercres, I thought he'd have done much better than Claire in a challenge involving sequins, feathers and bling.

I got the impression in the transformation challenge that Matt really didn't understand what a Carnival outfit was. He just shrugged and went on. He really blew the kilt challenge though.
I was underwhelmed with Clare's final gown. I loved the idea of it and it was right in her wheelhouse, but it was didn't turn out as well as I thought it would and they just glossed over that pucker in the front cutout right after saying that she would have to sew brilliantly because her dress was so plain. But I loved the look on her face (and her mom's face) when she won, she's out there on the front lines of Covid as a lung specialist, and her kilt was really great, so yay Clare!

Oh no, what can I watch on Saturday evenings now! Sad it's over. Thought throughout that Clare would win, but agree that Nicole's results were often more interesting.

That was such a nice final! I didn't like the second challenge much - it felt like they didn't have enough time to really do anything as spectacular as the brief called for - but somehow it was all so much fun. I liked that Matt seemed mentally in a very good place throughout even though the first day went so badly, and the support Nicole got from her friend, and in general all the family/friend moments so much. That they could all feel so good about how the final challenge went. "I would love her just as much even if she was completely useless" made me laugh, Nicole's kids, Matt's joy at making a dress for Greg "on national TV" - I'm just sitting here afterwards with a big smile on my face. I was a little dubious about Joe Lycett back when he first joined the show, but I think he's done a lot to make the atmosphere even warmer than it used to be and it's been an incredible delight.

I love Clare and am happy she won!
All three are fantastic creators.
Clare and her mum have exactly the same surprised faces!
So happy to see Matt's boyfriend as the model, he is amazing!
Lovely to see all the former contestants and what they've been up to.
