Scully and Doggett investigate the murder of a realtor who had burst into a police station late at night, yelling that someone was going to kill him, and who, after the police locked him in a cell, screamed that he still wasn't safe, and was shot in the head seconds later by a bullet coming from the roof of the police station.

Ah, technology. Doggett mentions that a FLIR back then weighs 90 pounds. There are handheld units now that are smaller than a compact camcorder was waay back in 2001.

I don't mind Scully going full spooky without having a (even pseudo-) scientific explanation first.

The real X File would be how amazing of a marksman the guy was, not that he could see through walls. Once a bullet hits something, even if it's going to pass through, it'll deflect if not deform and affect its trajectory even more. Armour piercing helps against the deformation.

Dwight, Randall, and Tammi are three highly unpleasant and unprincipled people who almost deserve one another. This is a particularly sordid episode.

According to the X-Files Wikia page for this episode, one can't silence a gun by wrapping it in a towel.

“I hate twins. Twins never rat each other out.”
