I watched this a while back on the same weekend that I saw the Suspiria remake and it felt like an inadvertent double feature.
Lucky McKee is kind of hit or miss for me—even when I like his movies I don’t think they’re that great. This one seems assured in a way they usually aren’t, maybe because he reins in his tendency to go completely bugfuck bizarre (which is one of the things I like about him).

It's also pretty heavy on Val Lewton-isms and Suspiria references.
I can't argue this is a legit great movie, but it's pushing on some interesting buttons really hard. Take the list of things I have mentioned so far, add in Patricia Clarkson, Bruce Campbell, 50's boarding school, and weirdly distracting/compelling ADR postdubbing and you can likely estimate your own fondness level for this odd little movie. Cult potential for sure, depending on how many circles it overlaps on your own personal Venn diagram.
