Wrath of Man (2021)

H is a cold and mysterious character working at a cash truck company responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week.

There was a man. He had wrath (and plenty of it!). It's the Hollywood slow season.

Ritchie, Statham, and a box of popcorn is not the worst way to spend a couple hours. Which is to say this is on my current top 3 of theater visits once I feel it's safe for me (soon!).

Ritchie plays it surprisingly straight (I don't think Statham has too many modes to choose from). Not really any of the sense of humor, however rude, that underlies much of his other work. So make sure you like actual revenge flicks.

Jeffrey Donovan from Burn Notice has a significant role. A pleasant surprise.

I watched this last night on Amazon Prime, where it's currently free. I mostly liked it.

As praemunire says, the quirky humor of some Ritchie films is almost completely missing. It's still got some of his style, though: I can't think of many action films that are this willing to toss a linear narrative aside in favor of so many flashbacks.

Donovan is completely playing an alternate universe Michael Weston, where Michael Weston starts planning crimes after he got burned. He does it well.
