Having swept the honors at the European Film Awards and scoring 7.5/10 at IMDB and 96% fresh rating at RottenTomatoes, Ida (2013) has been named the best film of 2014 by New Yorker critic David Denby.
Gorgeous filmmaking. This was one of my favorites from the past year next to Under The Skin, which I found remarkably similar. Ida is very much like an alien.

Worth seeing just for the cinematography. Digital capture (Arri Alexa camera) according to imdb.com.

This is such a beautiful movie! It works with the constraints and benefits of B&W photography and the Academy ratio.

Yeah, I thought the cinematography was beautiful. It was very engaging because of how concise-- poetic-- it was.
