This was ok. Sillier than the first.

Clearly Hayek was sincere on the talk show circuit about how much she loved being in this.

I respect Reynold's choice to let some of his grey show. Banderas is always charming.

Plot twist at the end, to cement the intention that 'Bodyguard' be a franchise.

This did not land as well for me as the first. It's not generally laugh out loud funny, but it is amusing nonetheless. It never lets you forget that it isn't serious, even in the spaces it leaves to allow the viewer to catch their breath. Sometimes it's nice when outlandish things acknowledge just how outlandish they are and really lean in to it.

I'm glad not everything is like this, but I'm also glad this kind of thing exists. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I feel much the same way about the Deadpool movies.

While I have not seen either this movie or the previous one, I would like to register my approval of this method of naming sequels, and I am looking forward to The Hitman's Wife's Cousin's Neighbor's Daughter's Dog's Bodyguard whenever it eventually comes out.

I honestly didn't realize this was a sequel until now. I had seen ads for it, but I think I missed the first movie?

It came out in 2017 and I had completely forgotten I’d seen it, I had to read a recap review before watching this.

Finally caught up with this and it's definitely sillier than the first and more whip lashy in terms of tone. It worked for me given my current weird headspace. I will say other than green lantern I haven't really disliked anything I've seen Ryan Reynolds in.
