Everything with naming the ship was just.. it was so good. This was a lot of fun to wake up to this morning.

I did not pick up on the fact that griffin was being bullied by his brothers and father until right after he did, himself. I cannot tell you how good it was, to think Travis was earnestly suggesting the name Littlest Baby (Stinky). And I also cannot wait to listen to it again, to appreciate the weapons-grade teasing going on there.

This arc is going quite well so far. The backstory building pre-game seems to have reined in a bit of the over indulgent back story ness.
They're straight into having adventures with room for goofs. Those adventures so far haven't required anyone to break out the "slow portentous important things" voice that was like 90% the end of balance.
(and is fine I guess but you gotta earn it first)
Straight up, here's a fun world to goof about it.

I think them naming the great big battleship "Biggest Baby" helped A LOT with the tone.
Also all of Justin's Ol' Uncle Joshy stuff helped tilt the world towards goofs.

I think they've also now picked up on the idea that our media landscape is absolutely saturated with stories with notionally incredibly high existential stakes, and that these stories probably aren't as thrilling as people seem to imagine. One of the trailers for the season had something like "it's not about saving the world because the world has already ended" in it, and I'm hopeful that the main plot turns out to be "saving the art gallery" or "taking out the corrupt Chaperones" or similar. Stakes have to be meaningful as well as high, and I could happily live the rest of my life without another story about saving the world.

Dang, if it wound up being about saving art that would be so good. They had Scarcity of Art (or.. culture? something?) for all of TQY setup, and I think Griffin has taken that and ran with it. I love small-stakes stories (whether they turn out to have big ramifications for the world or not kind of of incidental) and if the campaign - or at least this first arc - revolves around culturally improving the survivors, that would be really great to experience.
