Some review comments...
  • This television show is a complete abomination.
  • The show is beautiful story telling and incredible acting.
  • This got to be one of the most boring series ever presented on a streaming service. Who at Amazon thought that a seven episode series with nothing but actors delivering monologues was a great idea?
  • Solos was a beautiful series. Every episode was captivating, and at the same time sad too. The way it all came together at the end was amazing.
  • Oh wow!! I’m only on episode 2 and I am so moved. Great cast, great stories. Time travel and real feelings about life.
  • If you are looking for action this will not be enjoyable to you. These are character driven stories by actors who make you care.
  • Cried every episode.
  • Alan Bennett meets sci fi.
Cast: Ann Hathaway, Anthony Mackie, Helen Mirren, Uzo Aduba, Constance Wu, Nicole Beharie, Morgan Freeman, Dan Stevens.

Kristen Lopez for the Indie Wire says: "The series instantly dates itself as a pandemic production with its monologues — and it's hard to convince viewer to watch more than one episode considering there's no actual plot."

The Guardian says: "Despite its A-list cast – including Hathaway, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman – Amazon’s Black Mirror-inspired anthology is stodgy, cheesy and woefully underdeveloped."

It scored 45% on the Rotten Tomatometer

Variety says: "Amazon’s ‘Solos,’ ... Has More Stars Than Resonance"

Watching this series gave me the same type of feeling I got from watching live theatre. Gratitude that actors, alone on stage, worked hard to entertain me and maybe prime me for insights. In a monologue the speaker is talking to us and I found the series enjoyably intimate. And somewhat uncomfortable in parts.

I enjoyed it. I didn't expect a lot going in, because I didn't know exactly what it was. I always enjoy actors doing monologues, and this was no exception. There's a thin thread linking things, more or less. I wouldn't say it stuck the landing (far from it) but I had no real quibble with the ending.

Maybe reviewers are over-acclimated to loud, action-packed scenes to where they can't appreciate what this little series is? I dunno. It's not genre-defining cinema, but it's a good evening of light-sci-fi watching.

I swear I read an interview with Constance Wu about this where she said that she hadn't been hired yet, and they sent her the script so she could read it over and decide if she wanted in; she said that when she saw her character's very first line was "Can you smell my vagina?" she was like "I'M IN."

I liked it - it was a change and different from "the norm", but refreshing - it worked with the actors they chose - binged the entire season in one go when it came out a few months ago.
