An NPC patron who bakes cakes, and an NPC informant known as "The Shadow Baker"? I think we have a DM reacting to a cupcake incident.

Yes the Shadow Baker was my favorite in this. Could so easily have come across as just a gag, but was a fully rounded, rather prickly character.
I was a little worried that the high gloss, high tech production quality and set would detract from my immersion in this campaign, but that's not been a problem at all. Usually less is more when it comes to story telling, but I think they got the balance right.

Also noticed that both the baking characters are male, which seems an intentional choice to challenge gender stereotypes?
I always appreciate the way a Matt Mercer deals with gender issues in his stories, most notably the low key, no fuss presence of women and other non male people being guards, drivers, smiths, shop owners etc without that being presented as extraordinary. Just a fact of everyday life, "people who are not male also exist" which is still sadly unusual in so many books, movies, games...

In the same vein, Zumbador — I love how Matt is rocking the black nail polish lately, and we get to see it every time he makes hand gestures!
