Moiraine and Lan lead the four villagers to safety, unsure which is the one from the prophecy. But the friends are equally unsure about their rescuers, especially once they see how far Moiraine is willing to go for her mission – and how far astray Lan is willing to lead them.

Only partway through this episode, but this whole bat sequence is great. Totally freaky. More of this please.

oh, agreed. part way through this ep too and I've been delighted so far how unique and fun much of the show is.

With the village and its stock pastoral sensibilities in the rearview mirror, this episode was much less constipated than the premiere -- the characters seem human now and the series much more interesting. I like how they mention historical incidents but leave so much unexplained as well. CGI is mixed - the trollocs in particular lack weight in their animation, but the static backgrounds are gorgeous.

I agree that this episode was better than the premiere, but I'm beginning to suspect that the costumes are just going to be awful all the way through (and that bothers me more than the iffy CGI).

I'm watching this out of a sense of vague genre obligation—never read the books and Mrs. Cheeses noped out after the first book. This episode was so LOTR-esque as to put the show on notice. Good news for anyone following along: that ends after this one.

Thank you for the info, CheesesOfBrazil, I was definitely starting to feel like (at some points) I was watching a budget version of LOTR at one point, and wondering why I just didn't go watch those movies (I'm due for an all day in PJs marathon).

The bats were creepy though.
