As always, I'm looking forward to the awful block, but I'll have this on all the time for background noise.

Aaaaaaand we've had our first "I've never seen this happen before" of this GDQ during the Deathloop run, when the game crashed in the middle of the final golden loop.

Is this the first year where there's no Super Metroid run?!

Seems that way. Is this the first year without one? There was a Metroid Prime Hunters run on the first day, and there was also talk of a Metroid Dread run, but Dread didn't come out until submissions had already closed.

There was a pretty entertaining Super Metroid run today, on a GDQ show that showcases unusual run categories. This run was in the Club Nintendo% category, which follows an old guide to getting 100% of the items in a rather... idiosyncratic order. Also, the runner is relatively new. The whole thing is relaxed and not too serious.
