The Hindu ‘Our Beloved Summer’ review: Like a languid, feel-good breeze - "There’s something very endearing, and yet heartbreakingly familiar about the lead couple in the visually-pleasing Our Beloved Summer. It takes quite a delicate balance to make a K-Drama like this one click; one which follows characters that aren’t always perfect, but who are, in equal parts, sweet and frustrating."

Another weekly-release Netflix/Korean tv broadcast series, was anyone else watching?

I enjoyed this one, just the right mix of angst & sweetness. The leads looked both believably teenaged in the flashbacks and adult in the present, and the OST featuring music by BTS was lovely.

Tangential FYI in case anyone is confused in the same manner I was:

The phrase "The Hindu 'Our Beloved Summer' Review" does not mean that Our Beloved Summer is a Hindu film. It instead refers to a review for the film which appeared in a newspaper that was itself called "The Hindu".

Ha, oops. The site names for kdrama reviews run such a gamut of traditional news-ish sites and kdrama-fan-puns, it didn't register as odd. I was just happy they hadn't disabled the right-click like some of the kdrama review sites do.

I also watched and I thought it was lovely. There were so many scenes that I rewatched because they were so perfectly filmed and framed: the kiss in the rain, Yeon Soo tossing the cherry blossoms, the change to black & white in the exhibit hall. I especially loved the staging of Woong’s living room with its large window and trailing plants as a backdrop. The pacing was deliberately slow and some of the music (Christmas Tree, for example) worked like a lullaby for me and my eyes sometimes drooped shut but it wasn’t because I was bored. This is a show that I’ll enjoy rewatching.

Loosely based on true/real documentary from 2015 which had zero romance. You can watch it on YouTube. Looking at these screenshots, the low ranking student's drawing was very good.

I wish the YouTube documentary had English subtitles, but even just watching a few minutes without any translation it looks adorkable.
