I watched the first two episodes the other day, and I feel like this is sort of doing the “Lost” thing by hurling a lot of complications into the opening episodes. I hope it’s all for something, and doesn’t just fall apart.

Or at the very least, let it fall apart in a fun way.

The cast is great. I’ll watch Josh Brolin in pretty much anything, and same for Lili Taylor.

This thing is my kind of weird.

I fear that my kind of weird is that Imogen is going to get the same treatment, as Amanda, with me saying their last name elongated and in a low register when they come on screen:
PEEEET!
POOOOTS!

Thanks for posting this, I had 'recommended' it to Fanfare, but never got around to making the post.

The second ep was concurrently released.

Super-/ para- natural cowboy subgenre?

The first ep didn't grab me, the second was enough for me to keep an eye out for the third even though I'm a big fan of Lili Taylor and ended up liking mature Josh Brolin. imogen Poots is ok so far. Have been given absolutely zero reasons to give even half a rat's about the boys.

There's a bit of sly humour, but mostly at at Brolin's exasperated expense.

Though the start of ep02 left me terribly unsatisfied.

I just saw the trailer for this and feel compelled to ask... Is this "That meme-GIF where crowds of GGI people rush to throw themselves into a hole in the ground: The Movie"?

Just when it looked like we got ourselves a metaphor it turns into a gateway to another self.

if that prayer is anything to go on I can see why Josh Brolin has to sit at the back at church.

What with this show and the 2019 horror film The Hole in the Ground, I'm intrigued by this emerging Mysterious Hole in the Ground subgenre!

Now that the first 8 episode season has aired I am just going to comment here that the last couple of them, maybe the last half of the season start feeling like they had 10 episodes planned but them cut it down for time. Either that or they are awfully cut and directed, especially the last two.

I'm commenting here (on this episode) because maybe they pull it out of the (stinky editing) hole next season. But if you are just checking this show out, you may want to wait til next season starts so you can binge through the clunkiness at the end of season one.
