So the reimagining of Falling Down is kind of a regressive setup, but there are a few points that make up for that:

1) Destroying the items of the (fraudulently) obscenely wealthy is something I can get behind
2) He doesn't seem to actually be stalking his ex-wife and daughter
3) Rowan Atkinson is a funny, funny man

Not sure why it was released as 9 separate 10 minute-ish episodes rather than a 90 minute movie, but it is easily watchable in one sitting.

So there I was, perusing NetFlix and I stumble upon Man vs Bee. Well, that's a stupid premise, I thought. Then wait, hold on! Is that Rowan Atkinson?! Must watch!

From Wikipedia: "In March 2001, while Atkinson was on holiday in Kenya, the pilot of his private plane fainted; Atkinson managed to maintain the plane in the air until the pilot recovered and was able to land the plane at Wilson Airport in Nairobi." Are there no limits to this man?!

It's kind of amazing how smart Atkinson is considering the entire conceit of his career is making you believe he is the dumbest man alive. The entire show is one long "oh come on how dumb can you be?"

Anyway excuse to share this.

I did watch the entire series over two mornings. I don't think this will work as a 90 minute movie: there are a lot of repetitions in the comedy over the nine episodes.

Rather, I think this may work better if Netflix releases the series on a weekly basis. Let me watch 10 minutes, wait one week, forget what happened last week, and then watch another 10 minutes with a fresh mind.

I haven't seen this and dunno that I'm gonna but wanted to commend the most recent few mbmbams to you wherein the various mcelroyses proclaim their excitement about this then-upcoming series and then air their grievances concerning it

It's like Snakes on a Plane in the way that you can pretty well know if you will like it or not without even watching it. There are no surprises inside. If Rowan Atkinson doing his thing under the pretext of a bee harassing him sounds funny, then you will like it. If not, watching it isn't going to change your mind.

I am reminded of a newspaper review of Mrs. Doubtfire which began with a frank admission that the review was pointless. The reviewer wrote something to the effect, “Either you are the sort of person who would be delighted to watch Robin Williams in drag and speaking in a Scottish falsetto for ninety minutes or you are not, and nothing I can write will shift you from one column to the other. “
