Watched this one a couple years ago when I was on a Canadian B-Movie binge. It stood out to me a lot in that mix of movies because it genuinely tried to do something unique and interesting. One of those cases where a movie had bigger ideas than its budget allowed. More of a twilight zone/outer limits/x-files kind of thing than an outright horror movie.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this movie yet. I need to think on it a bit more, but I know I was totally engaged the entire time yet the ending felt...underwhelming I guess? As I said maybe as I reflect on it a bit, I'll have more coherent thoughts.

I will say the fx in the climax were great. Very visceral.

I feel that way about a lot of movies that fit into that "feature length twilight zone episode" niche. They usually keep you interested throughout and stumble at the end or the narrative and plot just aren't as good as the central idea. Other examples are Vivarium, Dual, Timecrimes, The Similars, etc.

So having reflected, I found the main character's final reflections totally lackluster considering what has just happened. I still think this is a movie worth watching but just go in knowing it's about the ride not the destination.

I liked the first act very much. The second dragged and was kinda repetitive. The third actually did work for me, somewhat, but I felt it wasn't as tragic as it could have been.
