Diane has deja vu. Marissa has a law degree. Liz has a new name partner. Carmen has an ethical question. Everyone has VR headsets. And there are riots downstairs.

I was so happy to find out the show was coming back; it's the most reliably interesting show on television! I like the way they (in this episode especially, but to some extent throughout the series) will have an atmosphere of doom and dread so thick that it needs puncturing as self-important nonsense, but then that puncturing will be followed up by a plausible, genuinely frightening threat (grenade scare in the elevator). This show is so hard to describe -- every time I try to convince someone to watch it and insist that it's good, I know I sound insane -- but they hide a lot of complexity behind the downright cartoonish way the show sometimes unfolds.

I think of it as "Your standard-issue legal drama, except the writers also happen to be super high."

I love this show. It’s like they took The Good Wife and dialed it up to 11. The partners and clients come and go at a dizzying rate. There’s always an undercurrent of paranoia. Watching the beginning of this episode, I believed it was a dream that Diane was having, similar to the previous season opening where Hillary had won the 2016 election. I really just love this show.

(But that painting from Diane’s office that the new guy nixed? Gimme! I found the artist a while back but prints are beyond my budget)
