Poirot arrives in Dover to help Lieutenant Colin Race determine if Sheila Webb is responsible for the murder of a middle-aged man found stabbed at 19 Wilbraham Crescent. Could there be a connection with the recent discovery of a German mole within the Navy?

There was so much to like about this one, but in the end I felt it a bit of a mess? I appreciate the plots running into each other with the inheritance and the spy ring, but it feels overstuffed and a bit muddled. I wonder if the novel is similar. I read that this is a fairly faithful adaptation, but I wonder if it presents better on the page.

I liked this one as well. I figured out there were two separate groups and was trying to see how they meshed together—and it turns out, they didn’t—but I had a much more convoluted backstory for the Blands. Anna Massey was great as always. Not quite sure how she was able to photograph the plans if she was blind, I thought maybe she had some vision but that was never resolved. She and the other bad guy must’ve been furious that their neighbors planted a body on her.

The only unconvincing scenario was the Navy lieutenant and the patsy secretary. It was less than a week since his girlfriend was essentially murdered.
