I never saw the movie, because I saw it as a stage play several years earlier and loved the central performance so much that I couldn't imagine Paltrow matching it. But I barely remember the story now and maybe I should give it a shot. Thanks for the nudge, Stuka.

It's definitely a movie that wears it's stage roots very clearly. I don't know if I really liked it though.. just kinda slipped away

I unreservedly enjoyed Proof - - solid performances and although certainly emotionally resonant, it was also unexpectedly intentionally funny. Underrated (although Roger Ebert did give it a 4-star review).

I also thought this was a very good movie. I read it as a theatre student but never saw a performance.

For some reason I always mix up this and Doubt (also an excellent play/movie).

I tended to mix up Proof and Wit (yet another excellent play/movie).

I liked the stage play of Proof more than the film, honestly.
