All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: Dynamite 6/7 and Rampage 6/9

Tonight more names get penciled in on the path to the Forbidden Door, as championships are defended and several NJPW-adjacent talent will be in the ring.

The announced card for Dynamite:

*AEW International Championship Match: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Swerve Strickland
Cassidy continues to be the hard-working champion, and will likely open the show yet again. My money's on him retaining to set up either a rematch or a bigger opponent for Forbidden Door
*Jay White vs. Ricky Starks (with Juice Robinson and FTR banned from ringside)
I don't like "banned from ringside" stips as they're just begging for cutesy legalistic escapes (see also: shark cage matches) but I do want these men to have a 15-20 minute banger.
*TBS Championship Match: Kris Statlander (c) vs Anna Jay.A.S.
In a strange booking decision, this match already happened once earlier this week in an AEW House Rules show
*The Blackpool Combat Club (ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta) vs. CHAOS (Rocky Romero, Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta)
Interesting the team is being referred to as CHAOS... and not Best Friends or Rappongi Vice. So it has the effect of linking them to other CHAOS members on the NJPW roster who might be queued up for the next few weeks.
*Texas Tornado Match: FTW Champion Hook and Jungle Boy vs. Dralistico and Preston Vance in a Texas Tornado match
JungleHook taking on Christian and Luchasaurus in a few weeks? Pretty please Tony?
* AEW President Tony Khan will announce the main event for the Collision premiere
"When CM Punk isn't on screen, everyone should be asking 'Where's Punk?'"
* We will hear from AEW World Champion MJF
In his frankly hilarious media scrum post-Double Or Nothing, MJF questioned whether he would even appear at Forbidden Door, calling NJPW "a fucking indy fed", and said no one on that roster could lace his boots. Looking forward to someone stepping up to make him eat his words.

Orange Cassidy and Swerve are so well matched. It's like those kung-fu movies where the hero meets someone who's been trained in all the same styles, except they use it for evil.

If/When the time comes that Danielson can't be in the ring anymore but still wants to be associated with a promotion, he'd have a great time as a heel commentator. It's subtle but if you pay attention, but if you pay attention to each time he knocks on CHAOS for not making a cover, or for doing a move badly, within 60 seconds someone from BCC makes the same mistake and he don't say nuthin'.

As for MJF's promo confrontation with Adam Cole, nothing to say yet except (a) I look forward to that match, and (b) you could have cut 5-7 minutes out and had time for another women's match.

(for real though I would love to see MJF/Naito; still can't believe Naito wasn't at the last one.)

That tornado match sure got bloody. Preston Vance and Hook did the majority of the fun outside the ring while Jungle Boy took the heat in the ring and -- don't think I didn't notice -- tried to tear the mask of Dralistico.

Meanwhile Statlander and Anna Jay put on the most mat-based grappling match of the night. Interesting that Matt Minard came out with Jay and reversed the usual role of what happens when a woman comes out with a man -- jumping in front of competitors saying "What are you gonna do? You can't hit me?"

I guess Taya's gonna heel it up because I see her getting mad at Statlander and I'm thinking "what does she have to be mad about? Her match wasn't interfered with"

Hey Preston, maybe cut back on the aspirin next time.

Suzuki and Naito are great, sure, but…

I would pay so, so much money for Forbidden Door ending with Toru Yano fleeing back to Japan with the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
