Litdarlings review: "Hyung Sik and Jeon So Hee really pulled off a feat in this drama. I expected more romance, so while this particular element was a letdown, I relished the rest. I like political saeguks a lot, and Our Blooming Youth is quite political no matter how I look at it."

Kdramalove review: "Some fans claimed that the plot of this drama was too complicated, however the old Joseon era in Korea was a complicated time: what was wrong with depicting that truth? Just go with the flow, don't nitpick every little twist and turn in the plot, and by the end of the story all the strange puzzle pieces will fall into place. You're in strong hands with director Lee Jong Jae who helmed the unforgettable 100 Days My Prince."

I never got around to posting a thread for this one after the finale dropped back in April. I enjoyed it though.

The romance felt a bit tacked-on. Or maybe I just less satisfying than the friendship/comradeship-of-conspirators relationship that the Crown Prince and Min Jae Yi develop over the course of the episodes. I don't know how well this one works as a binge-watch at 20 episodes, but it was well-paced for a weekly-broadcast sageuk.
