My mind started to wander in the middle of the episode -- specifically, when Cole goes to kill Ramse. Which should have been one of the most gripping scenes in the episode. I'm always pretty amazed at the inscrutability of mediocre art, where being just competent enough is its own special failure.

My mind started wandering pretty much as soon as it became clear this episode was going to be about this West-7 scavenger group. And, an off-the-shelf charismatic leader named Deacon? Really? There better be a satisfying* pay-off this particular arc real quick, or I might have to bail on the show.

* - "Satisfying" as in "Actually makes sense and plays a believably crucial role in the main story". Too often, side stories like this end up feeling more like something grafted-on for added drama and only serves to suck attention away from the main story arc.

Did Cole kill that scientist last week?

The doctor in Haiti? Yes, presumably to save him from torture by Mr. 12 Monkeys.

Huh. I thought there was a theme going with Cole saving his brother, the dog, and the scientist. I don't get his character at all then.

I couldn't agree with this more -- I don't really care about the Generic Northwestern Woodspocalypse, non-union Mad Max equivalents, or the sexual chemistry of a lead that looks like the love child of Edward Furlong and Robert Carlysle. Give me time travel in my time travel show!
