Quite probably the single worst film I have ever seen in a theater.

The worst kind of bad movie: not incompetent or amateurish, not loony or over the top. (I can enjoy any of those.) Just, half-baked, half-hearted, half thought-out.

Is it a mystery? No. They let on early this is about professional killers. There are precious few reversals or twists, so it whiffs as a mystery/thriller. Is it a bloody romp? Nope. Nearly all of the gore is in the trailer and none of the fight scenes are that impressive. Does not hit horror beats. Is it a John Wick secret underground mythology? They wish. The hitmen enclave calls itself "The University." Not much more to it than that.

The music is an indicator of the level of misfire. Action movie serious when the scene calls for comedy. Cheap "in the style of" pop tunes backing scenes clearly intended to be backed by famous standards.

I wanted to like this and just didn't. My kid fell asleep. The guy next to us left early. People were audibly grumbling all around us. Hard pass.

So what you're saying is rewatch "Ready or Not" instead?
