[TRAILER] World War II veteran Richard Dadier (Glenn Ford) takes a teaching position at a rough New York City school for boys. The staff warns him that the students are nearly impossible to control, but the optimistic Richard remains unfazed. Soon, though, he realizes that his class isn't merely rowdy -- they can be downright dangerous. The students, led by the thuggish Artie West (Vic Morrow), threaten their teacher and his family with violence, yet Richard refuses to give up on the troubled teens.

Directed by Richard Brooks.

74% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

JustWatch.

box was kind enough to support MeFi with a donation. Their request was for six films about high school or college. That was too easy, so I limited myself to high school. I'll be using the tag #EnduringHighSchool

Donate $25 or more to MeFi and you can MeMail me a request for a themed day of your own. I'll fill up the sidebar on FF with six movies that fit your theme.

It's so funny to see Glenn Ford as optimistic nerd here when he is imprinted on my brain as Johnny from Gilda.

Love this flick. Poitier is great, of course, and Morrow is properly cast. And a very young Jamie Farr!
